A Dutch court has ruled that a 69 year old man, Emile Ratelband, can not legally lower his age to 49.
Ratelband, a TV personality and “positivity guru”, wanted to lower his age as he “feels 20 years younger” and feels that this fits in with other forms of personal transformation, such as being able to change one’s name or gender at will.
The court ruled against Mr. Ratelband, stating –
“..amending his date of birth would cause 20 years of records to vanish from the register of births, deaths, marriages and registered partnerships.
“This would have a variety of undesirable legal and societal implications.”
Personally, I think this whole thing has been one big “social experiment” in order to ridicule the idea of Trans People being able to “choose their gender at will”, and to make a bit of a name for himself.
This has been an anti-trans publicity stunt from day one, and I guarantee that he will challenge the decision; all the while claiming discrimination of one sort or another.
If you don’t like the idea that someone can change their gender, or that everyone else has to “adhere to someone’s own idea of their own reality”, then that’s up to you.
But do me a favour – argue your point with facts and reason, rather than putting on a spectacle like this.
