Mars Insight – First image from the Nasa JPL mission

Credit: NASA

After a journey of over 200 days, the Nasa JPL mission Mars Insight has finally landed on the red planet.

Touching down at Elysium Planitia, the Lander has sent back it’s first image.

Though the dust cap is still on the lens (it’ll be removed later) you can see the flat plains and the arc of the Martian sky far off in the distance.

Whenever I see new images from Mars, or anywhere in space, I immediately feel like a child again – full of awe and wonder.

This image is no exception to that rule.

Cheers
